The Green Ghana project slated for Friday, June 11, 2021 is a nationwide exercise where Ghanaians are expected to plant over 5 million trees across the country within a single day in an effort to protect and preserve the nation’s forest reserves and the environment at large.
The government of Ghana has procured and distributed about six million seedlings in all 16 regions within the country. The forestry commission will further distribute the seedlings to metropolitan assemblies, municipal assemblies, district assemblies, individual Ghanaians and organizations.
The Weija-Gbawe district upon receiving the seedlings entreated all staff and service personnel to partake in the exercise. In a press release, the Weija-Gbawe NSS Secretariat wrote:
“As part of the Government’s efforts to green Ghana by planting 5million trees, the Weija-Gbawe Secretariat of NSS in collaboration Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly under the leadership of the Hon. MCE and the MCD, will be embarking on tree planting exercise around the Assembly Premises, the EU project site and various places within the Municipality on Friday, 11th June, 2021 starting at 7:00am.
As a result, all staffs and NSPs are kindly informed and encouraged to participate in this very important exercise.
That notwithstanding, if your institution has a place of planting you can join them rather than coming to the Assembly since is the same course.
Remember, when the last tree dies, the last man dies.
Let’s help to green Ghana by planting a tree each.
Thank you and see you on Friday”
