A 28-year-old architect has been arrested in Abesim in Sunyani for allegedly killing about three children and keeping some meat suspected of being human parts in a refrigerator.
The suspect, Richard Appiah, who is also a surveyor, is said to have murdered his half-brother and two other boys between the ages of 12 and 15.
The body of one of the victims was dismembered and the body parts were allegedly kept in a two-door refrigerator that was found in one of the rooms in the house where Abiah lived.
Appiah was arrested by the stepfather and some relatives of one of the 12-year-old victims.
The 56-year-old stepfather of one of the victims is said to have reported his missing son to the Sunyani police on August 20, 2021, around 10:10 pm.
He told police that his step-son Appiah came for his 12-year-old son at about 5:30 p.m. and the little boy could not be traced.
About an hour and a half later, the suspect’s stepfather and four siblings returned to the police station with Abiah on suspicion of knowing the whereabouts of the 12-year-old boy.
The police, along with the complainant and the suspect, went to the house where Appiah was staying in a rented, self-contained house in the Alaskan area near Absim and found the boy lying in a reclining position in one of the rooms.
A search of the house led to the discovery of another deceased, who was killed and held in one of the rooms.
Additional searches in the room led to the finding of suspected human parts of different people in a two-door refrigerator.
The police, in cooperation with some members of the local community, have arrested suspect Richard Appiah, who is currently in police custody to assist in the investigations.
The Acting Director General of the Ghana Police Directorate of Public Affairs said: Graphics online That the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Geroge Akuffo Dampare, has directed the National Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to provide technical support to Bono Regional CID to investigate the matter to its logical conclusion.
He also praised the police and society for the quick response in arresting the suspect, saying that the cooperation between the civilian police and the police should be deepened to promote peace and security in the community.
